BETA members’ participation in the Printemps de l’esprit critique
31 March 2026
The 5th edition of the Printemps de l’esprit critique will take place across all regions – in France and internationally – from 19 March to 5 April 2026. The theme for 2026 is money. To mark the occasion, several BETA members will be taking part in events open to the general public.
Thursday 2 April 2026, at 6.30 pm, Sylvie Rivot, professor of economics and researcher, will speak at a round-table discussion on the theme ‘Money: between necessity, domination and the imagination’, organised by the Science & Society Centre at the University of Haute-Alsace, in partnership with the Colmar City Library Network. The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Edmond Gerrer Media-Culture Centre in Colmar.
Friday 3 April 2026, at 6.30 pm, Julian Laynat, a PhD student at BETA, will speak at the François-Rabelais Media Library in Gennevilliers during a discussion session on the theme: “The Credit Years: Anatomy of Class Violence” and will shed sociological and economic light on the subject. He will be invited to debate with Damien Peynaud, author of the novel Les Crédits, a work of autofiction that is at once intimate, historical and social, immersing us in the home of a family in the 1980s, victims of the debt crisis that was then in full swing.
