DisCE platform

The purpose of the DisCE (Discrete Choice Experiment) platform is to support the laboratory’s researchers in implementing environmental evaluation methods, including discrete choice experiments (DCE).

The aim of these methods is to assign a value to goods and services that are not traditionally traded on the market, by assessing the preferences of individuals. These value estimates are then used to inform public policy or project implementation.

DisCE is designed to federate researchers mobilizing these approaches, and offers scientific and technical support at every stage of the project: formulation of the research question, choice and mobilization of data, survey design, experimental design and modeling. In connection with the OLEF platorm, its aim is to work within a logic of open, transparent and reproducible science.

Focus on...

This year, BETA is organizing a new edition of the Workshop on Non-Market Valuation (WONV), to be held on June 26 and 27, 2025 on the Nancy campus of AgroParisTech. Since its creation in 2013, WONV has brought together researchers specializing in non-market valuation techniques. This workshop has two main objectives:
i) To provide a dissemination platform for high-quality papers presenting recent advances in the theoretical and empirical analysis of non-market valuation, and
ii) to create a network of researchers specializing in this field.

The 2025 edition will place particular emphasis on ecosystem services, in connection with the challenges of integrating ecological dimensions into economic valuation.

The workshop will welcome around 40 participants, with some 20 presentations selected by the scientific committee, enabling both established and young European researchers to present innovative work to an audience of experts. Two keynote speakers, Harold Levrel (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris) and Léa Tardieu (UMR TETIS, Montpellier), will discuss ecosystem services and their integration into public policy, at the interface between economics and ecology.
