An immersive documentary to explain the PERCEVAL project
01 July 2025

Since June 24, 2025, the documentary “PERCEVAL: La forêt entre perception et valorisation” has been available on the PERCEVAL YouTube channel. This documentary was produced by Mathias Boudot and Allan Mansuy, two students from the University of Lorraine, under the supervision of MSH Lorraine.
Abstract: Faced with the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and growing economic pressures, how can we imagine sustainable management of our forests? The PERCEVAL project, born in 2022 in the Grand Est region of France, proposes an innovative response: structuring a genuine market for forest ecosystem services. In this immersive documentary, meet researchers, forest managers, landowners and local players involved in an unprecedented approach. Together, they are reinventing the way we value the services provided by forests: water purification, carbon storage, hosting biodiversity, economic and cultural resources…
Serge Garcia (INRAE BETA Research Director, and Scientific Director of the PERCEVAL project), Nicolas Bilot (DHDA – Des Hommes et des Arbres), Claude Michel (PNR Ballons des Vosges), Alexandra Niedzwiedz (AgroParisTech BETA Research Engineer, and PERCEVAL Data Manager), Pauline Lenormand (Project Manager for the TETRAE program), Frédéric Wallet (Co-director of the TETRAE research program), Antoine Daval (Private forest owner) and Jean-Michel Escurat (Agricultural teacher) take part in this documentary.
