Cylia Hammami, PhD student in economics at the University of Béjaïa (Algeria)

10 July 2025

In June 2025, BETA was delighted to welcome Cylia Hammami, a PhD student in economics at the Université Abderrahmane-Mira in Béjaïa (Algeria), to Nancy.

Cylia Hammami is working on a thesis in behavioral finance entitled “Director’s financial literacy and firm performance”, under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Achouche. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the role and importance of financial literacy on firm performance, particularly throught management decisions. The aim of her stay in Nancy was to refine her thesis work on financial literacy. In this respect, she was able to benefit from the advice and supervision of Yamina Tadjeddine (Professor, BETA, Université de Lorraine) regarding her research methodology and the field survey she is conducting with company managers.

For Cylia Hammami, the stay was also an opportunity to discover the laboratory and its activities. She attended Vincent Teixeira’s thesis defense on June 16, 2025, and the annual conference of the French Experimental Economics Association, organized this year by BETA.

In the course of numerous exchanges and discussions with BETA members, the groundwork for future scientific collaborations was laid. With this in mind, a joint seminar with BETA PhD student Julien Laynat is planned for January 2026.
