We are pleased to welcome to the next session of the BETA Cournot seminar organised with the support of the FSEG on Friday 12/12 at 2:00pm:
Étienne Capron (Dauphine Recherches en Management)
who will present his paper entitled
When the Temporary Becomes Permanent:
Exploration of the Role of Events and Places in the Emergence of New Regional Activities
Abstract: Economic geography recognises the critical role of temporary clusters in the global connectivity of industries and innovation dynamics, and emphasises how these events complement the knowledge circulating within regions. Yet, how these short-term settings can trigger the structuring of new innovative activities in a region is only partially understood. Extending this line of work, we examine the development of projection mapping in Montreal (Canada) and show how local preconditions were catalysed by these events. We also identify the necessary coupling between temporary organizations and more permanent micro-settings to structure a new activity locally.
