Event details :
Noame Khaldi, a PhD student and assistant lecturer at BETA, will be taking part in the ‘Pint of Science’ festival on the theme: AI and the law: opportunities or threats for the financial sector?
Her talk is entitled ‘A century to become a financial giant: the Luxembourg story, or how to turn the law into a financial powerhouse’.
Abstract: How did a tiny country become one of the major centres of international finance? My work shows that Luxembourg did not establish itself through a sudden boom, but through a gradual rise to prominence, built up over the long term. From the late 19th century to the present day, institutions, laws and political compromises have accumulated to make the law a genuine driving force behind finance, capable of attracting, organising and transforming capital. Behind the image of a tax haven or an offshore centre lies, above all, a history of institutional and political development.
She will be speaking alongside Wail Nidal Zellagui, a PhD student at Loria, whose presentation is entitled ‘When AI obeys too well: manipulating large language models’.
