Roundtable “The French Social Model: For Whom, What For, and How?”
The 2026/05/22
From 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Event details :
Our social model fascinates as much as it frustrates. It is described as protective, costly, indispensable… and above all, too complex. Health insurance, social assistance, pensions, unemployment benefits, national solidarity: who pays for it, who benefits from it, and what exactly are the results? Can this system still hold up in the face of today’s challenges?
At a time when some might be tempted to question or dismantle these social gains, this new roundtable organized by Des Mots & Débats aims to provide a concrete understanding of what the French social model is and what future we can envision for it.
To discuss this, the association Des Mots & Débats has called upon the expertise of Mathieu Lefebvre, professor of economics at the University of Strasbourg and researcher at BETA. He will speak alongside Gilles Raveaud, senior Lecturer at the Institute of European Studies at the University of Paris 8-Saint-Denis, and Anousheh Karvar, Chair of the ILO Governing Body and Government Delegate to the ILO.
Admission is free and open to the public, subject to availability.
