Article “Les oubliées de 14-18 : redonner une voix aux femmes « Mortes pour la France »” (‘The forgotten women of 1914-1918: giving a voice back to the women who “died for France”’), published on the INSHS website, CNRS Humanities & Social Sciences, 10 September 2025.
Abstract: “Long overlooked in official accounts, women of the Great War were rarely given the distinction of ‘Died for France’. While the archives list only a thousand such cases, a new compilation reveals more than 8,000 names. More than just a database, the project by Magali Jaoul-Grammare, a CNRS researcher at the Bureau of Theoretical and Applied Economics, aims to restore these women’s place in history by shedding light on a previously incomplete memory and questioning inequalities in recognition.“
