Mathieu Lefebvre discusses healthcare costs at the European Bioethics Forum
11 February 2026
The European Bioethics Forum 2026 took place from 4 to 7 February 2026. On this occasion, Mathieu Lefebvre, professor of economics at the University of Strasbourg, participated in a round table discussion entitled ‘The cost of healthcare: can we still provide care without counting the cost?’, which is available to watch again.
Alongside other specialists, he provided economic insight into the sustainability of healthcare systems, the trade-offs necessary in the face of rising medical costs, and the ethical issues related to the distribution of resources.
Prior to this intervention, Mathieu Lefebvre was also a guest on France Bleu Alsace to discuss the same topic on the programme “Bienvenue chez vous – Le dossier du jour‘, devoted to the question: ’How much does healthcare cost?“
These two appearances provided an opportunity to share with the general public an economist’s perspective on a key issue at the intersection of economics, public health and societal challenges.
