Philippe Delacote’s Research Visit to Florence

17 March 2026

Philippe Delacote, INRAE Research Director and researcher at the BETA and the Climate Economics Chair, will undertake a one-month research visit in March 2026 to the European University Institute (EUI) and the Florence School of Regulation (FSR) .

During this visit, he is collaborating with Simone Borghesi, director of the FSR and professor at the EUI; Fabio Santeramo, a professor at the EUI who leads the FSR’s activities focused on the agri-food sector; and Marie Missao Raude, a postdoctoral researcher in economics at the FSR, where she works on the design and regulation of carbon markets. Their work focuses primarily on climate change mitigation actions in the agricultural and forestry sectors, and carbon credits.

This visit to Italy provided Philippe Delacote with the opportunity to conduct additional scientific presentations at other institutions:

  • at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) in Milan, where he presented a paper, co-authored with Gabriela Demarchi and Julie Subervie, on assessing the impact of payments for avoided deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon;
  • at the Università di Bologna, where he presented research on how practices for adapting to weather shocks can influence deforestation.

This research visit is funded by the PEPR FORESTT, as part of Scientific Challenge 1 – Governance: Addressing societal challenges in the transition of forest socio-ecosystems.
