Scenario of a general and lasting blackout

23 May 2025

Article ‘Une journée, un mois, une année… De la bougie à la famine, à quoi ressembleraient nos vies sans électricité?’ published on 30 April 2025 by Le Parisien (website).

In the context of the electricity blackout that hit the Iberian peninsula on 28 April 2025, Le Parisien looked at existing research into the timeline of events in the hypothesis of a general and lasting power cut. Among the researchers interviewed, Lise Martins-Nourry, a PhD student at BETA (University of Strasbourg) and a crisis management specialist at BETA, co-authored with Anna Roinard, also a PhD student at BETA, a ‘prospective fiction’ research paper, as part of the IMMER project, on the possible outbreak of a severe blackout in the Upper Rhine in the future (by 2050). This note was published in September 2024 on the APR (Association de prospective Rhénane) website.
