Sophie Bollinger: awarded an ANR contract

12 July 2024

Congratulations to Sophie Bollinger on obtaining ANR JCJC funding for a period of 48 months and an amount of €245,939 for her project entitled: ECO-INNOVATE.

Abstract: Faced with global challenges, organisations must proactively integrate social responsibility into their innovation strategies, which requires a paradigm shift. ECO-INNOVATE is at the heart of this transformation. Drawing on dynamic capabilities theory, it explores how organisations can effectively and sustainably integrate global challenges into their innovation strategies and drive them forward. The three WPs focus on the balance between innovation, profitability and sustainability. They complement each other by examining these issues from various angles, with specific applications in the fields of industry and health. We analyse how organisations navigate a complex environment, with ambivalent objectives and by contributing to the resolution of global challenges.

WP1: Promoting innovation to address global challenges. Combining dynamic capabilities theory and the open innovation approach, this strand examines incentives for developing collaborative innovations to address global challenges.

WP2: Strategic management and coordination of ambivalent objectives. This axis explores how organisations manage their strategy when they have to reconcile seemingly contradictory objectives, such as immediate profitability, disruptive innovation and responding to global challenges. To examine these two axes, we are conducting a case study involving three organisations in Europe, Japan and the United States.

WP 3: Specific case of healthcare. We are studying how organisations can innovate while preserving the planet’s resources. The healthcare sector, a pioneer in paradigm shift, is illustrative and can inspire other sectors of activity. ECO-INNOVATE mobilises various sub-disciplines of management through an international team, aiming to generate both scientific and societal impact.
